What is BlueLab?

BlueLab is based on the proven GNU C compiler. The software package allows users to create on-chip ANSI/ISO C programs in user space, while maintaining the integrity of the pre-certified Bluetooth protocol stack thanks to BlueCore's virtual machine environmentBluelab is a complete, low cost Bluetooth technology development kit from CSR. It contains all the tools necessary to engineer new Bluetooth wireless products based on CSR's range of BlueCore devices.

BlueLab is based on CSR's popular Casira development kit. The hardware platform features a Radio/Baseband module, audio circuitry, and connectors to allow easy connection to any windows based PC. The radio/baseband module is easily replaceable allowing customers to insert modules from CSR's module partners.

BlueLab supports both on chip and host-side software development. The BlueLab SDK allows customers to develop embedded software applications based on BlueCore. The Widcomm software (evaluation only copy supplied) is a complete, user configurable Bluetooth stack for Windows, ARM7 and many other platforms.

The SDK
BlueCore developers can opt to run application software on the BlueCore chip. Embedding application software reduces demands on the host processor. For some relatively simple applications it is possible to completely dispense with a host processor, reducing cost, board space and power consumption.

The SDK ensures that user applications do not damage the integrity of the pre-certified Bluetooth Protocol Stack Kernel. This ensures that true, stand-alone, single chip applications can be developed on BlueCore without the need to re-qualify the protocol stack software, providing significant time-to-market and cost savings.

Bluetooth wireless technology For Windows
Bluetooth wireless technology for Windows is a fully functional Bluetooth wireless host side stack for Microsoft Windows 98SE, Windows 2000 and Windows ME. When used in conjunction with CSR's BlueCore PC devices, or a suitable module from one of CSR's module partners, it provides a complete hardware and software solution available to PC's. Bluetooth wireless technology for Windows uses a familiar Windows style GUI, which can be modified to carry customer branding.
